Define the R unit before reading the outcome
For this teaching record, define one R as a previously stated planned amount of 50 USD. A supplied gross outcome of 100 USD is therefore 2 R. This is a chosen denominator for the example, not proof that an actual loss was limited to 50 USD.
Preserve the denominator’s value, unit, plan version and observation time. Replacing it after the outcome with a more convenient amount changes the statistic. A dollar outcome and a percentage of current equity also answer different questions and should not share an unexplained R label.
Translate an expense only with a stated rate and direction
Suppose a fictional execution record supplies a fee of 0.01 TOKEN. With an independently supplied teaching conversion of 500 USD per TOKEN at the chosen fee-valuation instant, its converted amount is 5 USD. Net outcome is then 95 USD, or 1.9 R under the fixed 50 USD denominator.
Without that conversion input, the fee remains 0.01 TOKEN and the complete net USD outcome is unresolved. Subtracting 0.01 directly from 100 USD would mix units. A source commission-asset field identifies the asset; it does not authenticate the conversion price.
| Teaching item | Calculation or evidence | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Gross outcome | 100 / 50 | 2 R |
| Converted fee | 0.01 TOKEN × 500 USD/TOKEN | 5 USD |
| Conditional net outcome | (100 − 5) / 50 | 1.9 R |
| Conversion missing | Token quantity only | Complete net R unknown |
Use the valuation convention you actually declared
A current token price is not automatically the appropriate price for a fee incurred earlier. Record the chosen valuation instant, source and currency direction. If the journal uses a different explicit convention, retain it rather than silently mixing historical and current conversions.
Also check whether the supplied outcome is already net of the charge. Deducting an included fee again would double-count it. The cited trade schema illustrates separate quantity and commission fields; your own export’s meaning still needs to be established.
Keep partial outcomes and open quantities visible
An outcome supplied for one closed portion is not a completed result for every entered unit. Keep the exited portion, remaining quantity and expenses attributable to each record separate. A precise ratio for one supported portion should not conceal the rest of the position.
If expenses are shared across several fills, state the allocation rule and preserve the original expense total. This article supplies no universal allocation or tax method. Unknown attribution can remain a valid limitation of the net comparison.
Report both the number and its unresolved inputs
A reproducible note retains the original R definition, gross amount, fee quantity and asset, conversion input and whether the result was already net. It can report 2 gross R and a conditional 1.9 net R for these fictional inputs.
It cannot validate signal performance, actual execution quality, a loss guarantee or a suitable risk amount. All examples are invented unit calculations. The optional linked offer is separate and is not independently verified by the existence of this record.
The optional link below leads to this site's separate crypto signals and Telegram updates offer. The record method is usable without that offer. It does not independently verify the offer, establish country eligibility or turn the teaching example into an actual transaction.
